About The Position

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Division of Parole & Community Services is seeking a dedicated, security-minded individual to assume the duties and responsibilities of an Administrative Professional 1 in Franklin County, located within the Field Services Warrant Section. This position is a reposting and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The role involves overseeing warrants, detainers, and extradition operations, utilizing various law enforcement and data systems to compile and generate reports, and maintaining confidential criminal offense data. The position requires adherence to specific protocols for warrant validation and data entry, as well as communication with staff and external agencies regarding protection orders and detainers. Additionally, the role includes managing office supplies, equipment maintenance, fleet hub documentation, and handling visitor reception, phone calls, mail processing, and scheduling of meetings and training sessions. The Administrative Professional 1 must conduct themselves professionally and in a law-abiding manner at all times, adhering to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s Standards of Employee Conduct. Local travel is required.

Requirements

  • 1 yr. trg. or 1 yr. exp. in secretarial science or business office applications
  • For positions requiring technical terminology, applicants must also have 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in relevant technical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Oversees warrants, detainers & extradition operations within the Division of Parole & Community Services (DPCS) Adult Parole Authority’s (APA) Field Services Section for those persons under the supervision of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction
  • Operates Law Enforcement Automation Data Systems (LEADS) terminal, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer, Ohio Court Network (OCN), Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG) & BCI&I terminal to compile & generate reports involving complex technical, legal, statistical & confidential material from written copy or oral instructions
  • Follows protocols required by LEADS regarding warrants to include validating a warrant entered by Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) within required timeframe, performing second check to include proofing current warrant information & entering additional information not available at time warrant was entered
  • Enters confidential criminal offense data & identifying information & retrieves data/reports within computer system
