About The Position

Banner Health Clinic is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for a hybrid role supporting primary care and specialty clinics by answering patient calls. Responsibilities include assisting patients with medication refills, sending messages, referrals, and processing imaging orders. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The position utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to assess patient health status, identify care gaps, and ensure patients receive indicated care. Patient contact via telephone is a critical component, requiring medical background and communication skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Knowledge as normally obtained through graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is required. If certification is not in hand at the time of hire, individuals will have 12 months from date of hire to obtain certification.
  • Certification for BLS is required.
  • Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software.
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
  • Must be located in Northern Colorado.
  • Must have reliable internet (NO WIFI, Ethernet Connection only).
  • Must have a quiet work area/home office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments.
  • Knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
  • Strong Medical Assisting background working in the clinic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs chart review to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Utilizes evidence based guidelines when identifying care gaps for preventative and maintenance care.
  • Utilizes standing orders as appropriate.
  • Utilizes EHR to obtain medical information when communicating with the patient or medical care team regarding respective preventative care, chronic care, specific medications, high risk patients, and those not seen recently in the clinic.
  • Collaborates with care team to meet expected performance metrics and clinical quality measures.
  • Identifies areas for improvement based on results of clinical performance where applicable.
  • Maintains clinical skills and provides direct patient care on an as needed basis.
  • Completes all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
  • Participates in Annual Clinical Education Days (ACED), as needed or directed.
  • Answering calls for patients for PCP's and Specialty Clinics.
  • Supporting patients with medication refills, sending messages, referrals and processing imaging orders.
