About The Position

The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication is recruiting for an Administrative Manager. In this role, you will lead and support the administrative, personnel, business, and fiscal operations of the Edward R. Murrow College business office by planning, directing, coordinating, and continuously improving daily functions. You will apply your expertise to complex fiscal work and analysis, including payroll, purchasing, and travel, while exercising independent judgment in managing office operations. As a trusted advisor, manager, and supervisor, you will help guide budgetary and administrative decisions and ensure smooth, efficient service to the college. Working closely with the Director of Administrative Services, you will play an active role in shaping strategic direction, contributing to both short-term priorities and long-term goals that support the department’s success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Fiscal/budgetary experience related to payroll, travel, purchasing and/or general ledger financial statements.
  • HR knowledge and demonstrated ability to independently interpret rules to assure personnel and hiring processes are in compliance.
  • Experience working with confidential documents and/or maintaining personnel, payroll, and other human resource records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals with different needs and identify reasonable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate using verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated professional manner and ability to work with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience in a business office setting.
  • Knowledge of WSU policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Filemaker Pro, Business Objects.
  • Knowledge of WSU online mainframe (AIS) systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Access, Excel and PowerPoint or similar software.
  • Completed coursework in accounting.
  • Professional experience with budget and purchasing card reconciliation.
