About The Position

The NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently. The Customer Operations Division oversees various departments including the Business Centers, City Register's Office, and Adjudication and Collections divisions. The Adjudication Division specifically conducts hearings for parking and camera violations, hears appeals, and handles commercial vehicle tickets. This role involves adjudicating parking tickets and may be assigned to any of the Business Centers across the five boroughs. Selected candidates will be required to work three days a week, Monday through Friday, and must be approved by the NYC Department of Investigation (DOI).

Requirements

  • A license to practice law in the State of New York, which must be maintained.
  • Three years of recent satisfactory relevant legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar.
  • Must be interviewed and approved by the NYC Department of Investigation (DOI).
  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hearings on all parking and camera violations issued in New York City.
  • Hear appeals of parking ticket determinations.
  • Conduct hearings and appeals on tickets issued to commercial vehicles.
  • Adjudicate parking tickets.
