About The Position

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Multilingual Multicultural Education, the administrative coordinator ensures that multilingual learners develop academic proficiency and excel across all core content areas. This role supports District-wide implementation and monitoring of effective programs in alignment with District policy in identified Title I schools. The administrative coordinator will work to address the achievement gap for underserved students, evidenced by measures of success in math, science, social studies, English language arts, graduation, and A-G on-track data. The administrative coordinator leads and envisions systematically high-impact academic strategies for math, social studies, and science instruction to drive equitable access, improve outcomes, and advance academic excellence for underserved students at Title 1 schools.

Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public-school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential.
  • At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public-school experience as an elementary/secondary teacher.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university.
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework.

  • Experience in using student-centered data to determine effectiveness of core instruction, behavioral systems, and strategic and intensive interventions with the goal of increasing proficiency for all students.
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory.
  • Experience working with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to improve academic achievement for all students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy (CLRP), family engagement practices, and the JUNTOS framework.
  • Knowledge and experience with California content standards, the Teaching and Learning Framework, English Learner Master Plan, and special education programs.
  • Demonstration of urgency to improve student achievement and outcomes.
  • Demonstration of personal resolve and constructive responses to challenges.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites across the District.

Responsibilities

  • Leads an academic and cultural shift in Title I schools by expanding access to culturally and linguistically responsive instruction, translanguaging pedagogy, and coherent resources in the key areas of math, science, and social studies.
  • Coordinates with District partners to design innovative, inclusive instructional practices in math, science, and social studies that incorporates community-relevant contexts, student-generated examples during concept development, home language supports, connecting lessons to local data and neighborhood maps, and provide choice-based tasks that honor diverse learning approaches.
  • Leads and implements innovative culturally and linguistically responsive practices during math, social studies, and science instruction that embed cultural competence, promote high expectations, and foster asset-based perspectives for all multilingual learners while building inclusive classrooms and affirming students’ identities.
  • Supervises professional development for Title I schools and oversees the development of curricular resources, including a bank of math, science, social studies, and English language arts multilingual performance tasks for teachers, coaches, administrators, and parents rooted in Culturally Linguistic and Responsive Pedagogy (CLRP) teaching and learning.
  • Builds capacity for culturally and linguistically responsive instruction and equitable access to grade-level content standards, including the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), math practices, including integrating the guidance from the California Math and Science frameworks.
  • Leads school administrators, instructional coaches, and other key staff in developing the infrastructure needed to provide and progress monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for math, science, and social studies.
  • Coordinates and oversees local community partnerships with experts in the areas of Cognitively Guided Math Instruction, and equity-based math, social studies, and science instruction for underserved students in Title 1 schools.
  • Uses multiple student data and assessments results in math, social studies, science and Smarter Balanced English Language Arts to design and monitor multi-tiered strategies that improve language, literacy, numeracy, science, and academic outcomes for students in Title 1 schools.
  • Collaborates and engages with central office and region teams to incorporate CLRP instructional strategies into all content areas and builds coherent resources for Title I schools.
  • Provides supervision and technical support to region leaders and school staff, and gathers qualitative survey data to ensure effective implementation of initiatives.
  • Develops and writes communication strategy plans, including data reports, and informational presentations with a focus on math, science, and social studies instruction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
