About The Position

Provides skilled administrative assistance within a framework of established policies and procedures. Independently coordinates routine office or departmental clerical work according to established procedures and may process varied, complex or large volumes of materials. This position typically works in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer. The role demands frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Visual acuity is essential for reading and interpreting data on computer screens. Clear verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with colleagues and employees. Additionally, the job may involve occasional mobility around the office and attending meetings, as well as frequent travel to attend off-site meetings and trainings. This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks requiring skill in keyboarding and computer usage.
  • Composes routine correspondence, compiles reports, and completes forms.
  • Maintains various records and filing systems.
  • Handles and maintains confidential information.
  • Serves as a receptionist for the Education Office.
  • Collects, opens, and routes mail.
  • Makes appointments and travel arrangements.
  • Assists with preparation of programs, flyers and other Department of Education publications.
  • Maintains inventory and may order materials for the Department.
  • Assists with planning, preparing for, and implementing Department of Education events.
  • Answers phone calls and responds to email in a timely manner from current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Provides support to the EPP Office Staff as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.
