About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the Administrative Assistant role within the Commitment Oversight & Release Section (CORS). This team is responsible for ensuring transparency and collaboration in determining inmate placement, working closely with treatment and rehabilitation partners. The Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in providing support to the CORS team and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, a high level of attention to detail, and a balance of teamwork and independent thinking. Clear and professional written and verbal communication is essential for interacting with internal staff, partner agencies, and the public. The successful candidate will be adaptable, resourceful, and committed to supporting the mission of the Department of Corrections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Two years of experience performing a variety of office support or clerical work
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted
  • Successful applicants will be subject to a criminal history check
  • Successful applicants will be subject to reference checks
  • Candidates who have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or were issued a court order of protection are not qualified for this position.
  • Any person who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution; has been convicted of engaging in or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in such activity, are not qualified for this position.
