About The Position

We are seeking an Office Administrative Assistant to be a part of a new plant start-up based in Port Colborne, Ontario. This position will be responsible for providing general office administration – data entry, document support, catering, call management, event planning and other duties as assigned. This position is a new role. Asahi Kasei is a long-trusted supplier of lithium-ion battery separators – polymer-based microporous membranes that are a key component of the lithium batteries used to power electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and more. We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada, where we are in the process of constructing a new lithium battery separator manufacturing facility to support increasing North American demand. Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada is a pioneer in battery technology and a long-trusted supplier of lithium battery separators, which are polymer-based microporous membranes that are key components of lithium-ion batteries (LIB) used in consumer electronics and electric vehicles. The company’s Hipore™ brand of separators has been commercially available since the lithium battery market’s inception in the early 1990s, and they are found primarily in electric drive vehicles (EDVs) as well as in consumer electronics (CE) such as smartphones, tablets and personal computers. Hipore™ membrane separators bring high porosity and excellent energy transfer, while contributing to battery safety and reliability, and they are especially well matched for the high-capacity batteries required for power plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and full battery (BEV) vehicles. Asahi Kasei is accelerating its next phase of global growth with proactive investment and capacity expansion in battery separators to meet increasing demand for electric vehicle applications. We are now in the early phases of staffing our new greenfield site, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, which will further build our LIB separator infrastructure for automotive applications to meet growing demand in North America where significant expansion of electric vehicle production is forecasted. Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences across all levels of the organization is required.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be open-minded, able to adapt and accustomed to working across cultures.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be someone who enjoys a challenge.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • Must be able to work on a high performing team creating an environment where open and honest communication is the norm.
  • Completion of Secondary education program.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a corporate office setting.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must hold a valid Passport and willing to travel up to 5% domestically and abroad for training and visiting other company locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Post Secondary education program is preferred.
  • Experience with a start-up an asset.

Responsibilities

  • General office administration – data entry, document support, catering, call management, event planning and other duties as assigned.
  • Manage office systems, ordering supplies, and mailing functions such as order pickup and delivery arrangements to maintain an efficient and professional working environment.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, company town halls, board meetings, and internal gatherings both in-office and off-site.
  • Support planning and logistics related to company initiatives, partnerships, and strategic projects.
  • Assist with preparing internal updates, presentations, and company communications.
  • Assist with Visitor Management – visitor relations and scheduling, hotel and car reservations, identification and parking management and set up of meeting environment.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate meetings and communications with key external contacts.
  • Assist in preparing presentations when required.
  • Organize and maintain executive records, documents, and files.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company strategy, financial information, and personnel matters.
