About The Position

The Administrative Assistant will collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support the learning environment and contribute to a positive school culture. Organizational Scope: Reporting directly to the Building Principal, the Administrative Assistant performs functions related to the efficient functioning of the office, including greeting parents, guests, members of the public, faculty, and students in a warm and welcoming manner. The Administrative Assistant may provide support to multiple administrators or directors, and provides support as needed to the administration of the school or office. Requirements

  • Associates Degree or certificate program or higher; related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Three to five years professional office experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software
  • Proficient in telephone use
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Ability to assist in the protection of students and school property
  • Ability to assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy

Responsibilities

  • Greets members of the public, faculty, and students and provides a welcoming environment to our customers, employees, and the general public
  • Provides support as directed by multiple directors in a busy school environment
  • Provides support services as needed to the functioning of the school/office, directed by the supervisor/director
  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data needed for compiling reports
  • Maintains both paper and electronic files
  • Creates and manages databases for the purpose of maintaining current data
  • Uses technology to appropriately communicate and correspond with faculty, staff, parents, teachers and the community, which may include managing a school entry security protocol for visitors
  • Provides telephone coverage, takes and relays messages and maintains a current address file
