This is an 8-week summer student position providing in-person and virtual/online administrative support to Language Assessment Centre locations in Mississauga. Requirements

  • Strong fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of Achev and other programs relating to community and settlement programs in Peel & Halton regions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with a wide range of individuals in a variety of situations which often require tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Good interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, problem-solving and self-managing organizational skills.
  • Computer-literate with proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Office and databases such as HARTS and statistical record keeping.
  • Sensitivity to the diverse needs of adult learners and the multicultural community.
  • Provision of satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.
  • Must be able to work online/remotely as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist assessment staff and provide front desk support at Language Assessment Centres.
  • Greet clients and visitors to the centre and ensure they are attended to in a timely manner.
  • Answer phones promptly and minimize messages going to voice mail.
  • Ensure that client phone messages are returned swiftly.
  • Schedule and monitor appointments using the HART System.
  • Confirm client appointments and reschedule appointments as needed.
  • Update client information in HARTs.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties including filing, typing, photocopying, faxing, confidential record keeping, and document distribution in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Receive clients and respond to emails/phone calls in a positive and professional manner.
  • Refer client requests to appropriate staff.
