About The Position

The Bethany Historical Society is seeking a student Administrative Assistant to support their office and museum. This role involves assisting with the cataloguing and digitization of historical archives, performing administrative tasks, conducting research on local history, and helping with the maintenance and construction of museum displays. The position also offers opportunities to assist with special events. This is a Federal Work-Study position requiring 6-10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling between Monday and Friday, 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cataloguing and documentation of Historical Society’s archives and collection.
  • Digitize historical documents using a scanner.
  • Perform various administrative tasks such as filing and labeling.
  • Conduct research about Bethany, its residents, businesses, and town development.
  • Assist with the maintenance and construction of displays in the Historical Society’s Museum and at their historical properties.
  • Assist with special events, including planning and staffing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
