About The Position

The Office of Community Engagement is seeking a Community Outreach Assistant for Student Employment, specifically for Federal Work-Study students. This role involves assisting in the planning and execution of community-focused events to attract visitors to the society's properties and museum. The assistant will also contribute to marketing efforts by creating materials like flyers and social media posts, and developing QR codes. Research on Bethany's history, residents, businesses, and town development is a key component. Additionally, the role includes curating and developing displays for events and the museum, and assisting with staffing special events, which may involve leading tours.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Federal Work-Study eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and design of community focused events to draw people to the society’s properties and museum.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials about the historical society and its special events including flyers, social media posts and the development of QR codes.
  • Conduct research about Bethany, its residents, businesses, and town development.
  • Curation and development of displays at special events and in the Historical Society’s Museum and historical properties.
  • Assist with staffing of special events which may include leading small groups on tours of historic properties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
