About The Position

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides essential services to nearly every citizen of the State, including identification, driver, and vehicle services. The Driver Services Program (DSP) is the primary public-facing arm of the DMV, managing public operations across 35 physical field offices, a mobile operations fleet, and high-volume call centers. The CDL State 2 State unit within the DSP administers motor vehicle statutory requirements, manages driver data through data entry, electronic imaging, and filing, and provides copies, reports, and information to law enforcement, governmental agencies, and the general public upon request, collecting appropriate fees. This position is designated as remote but may require occasional work from a department office. Remote employees are responsible for maintaining a home office with a secure internet connection and are expected to work online during normal business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday). All performance expectations apply to remote work in the same manner as in-office work.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of General Clerical work experience in a professional office setting.
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service and interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community.
  • Data Entry including: entering information into a program or database (appointments, contact information, customer records).
  • Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing equipment and software used in offices (E-Mail, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite).
  • Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing computer systems, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies.
  • Typing professional emails, letters, reports, briefings, forms, memoranda, etc.
  • Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Gathering specified information and compiling routine reports.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries from Colorado Driver License offices and Motor Vehicle offices in other states concerning driver status.
  • Verify and analyze driver records for accuracy and authorization.
  • Use problem-solving and collaboration skills to research, validate, and answer questions concerning customer inquiries.
  • Translate and clarify Colorado Motor Vehicle statutes, department administrative procedures, and policy to customers.
  • Instruct customers on compliance, violations, fees, and requirements for their desired actions.
  • Collaborate with co-workers on training, updates, and resolving difficult and/or unique problems.
  • Resolve duplicates identified via SPEXS through analysis of data provided.
  • Communicate with other state agencies to determine the proper state of record for an individual's credential and resolve any issues.
  • Work with other state's CDL, CDLIS personnel/Motor Vehicle departments, and AAMVA members on interstate and intrastate requirements for drivers changing residency, licensing state, clearing citations, and resolving driver license restrictions.
  • Resolve problems and answer questions concerning Commercial Driver Information System (CDLIS) record entries.
  • Analyze records to determine the accuracy of motor vehicle records.
  • Assist customers with clarification of underlying rationale and compliance related to restraints or credential status.
