About The Position

The Administrative Assistant I provides administrative support for the operations of the Geography department. This role performs routine and well-documented administrative tasks, acts as an office liaison and receptionist, and handles incoming communications (phone calls, emails) and guests. The position involves maintaining files, entering data, and operating standard office equipment. Additionally, the role supports the department's needs by typing documents, purchasing office supplies, assisting students during advising and registration, maintaining logs for atlas sales and cartography lab work, handling inventory and reception duties, performing tasks in Astra, Banner, and BuyBama, and maintaining department bulletin boards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or higher.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation.
  • Information obtained from social media and other internet sources will be reviewed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support for the operations of the unit.
  • Performs routine and well-documented administrative tasks.
  • Acts as office liaison/receptionist.
  • Receives and routes phone calls, emails, and/or guests.
  • Maintains files and enters data.
  • Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
  • Supports the department's needs.
  • Types documents.
  • Purchases office supplies.
  • Assists students during advising and registration.
  • Maintains log of cart lab sale of six atlases and cart lab work.
  • Handles inventory and reception.
  • Performs work in Astra, Banner, and BuyBama.
  • Maintains department bulletin boards.
