About The Position

Under the general direction of the Economic Development Director, this part-time position performs economic development and administrative support activities. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Essential Functions of the Job include preparing reports, correspondence, memorandum, schedules, minutes, requisitions, public hearing notices, statistical data, technical narratives, charts, and tables. The role assists in the administration of economic development programs operated by the Economic Development Authority (EDA), engages in community outreach for the City, and assists with marketing programs provided by the EDA. This position provides basic information relative to economic development programs, gathers information and prepares reports for EDA meetings, answers telephone and walk-in inquiries, prepares written correspondence, and maintains accurate records. Additional duties include conducting surveys, collecting data, analyzing prevailing practices of other communities, conducting research to gather data on statistics and demographics, and assisting in the research, preparation, and writing associated with grant applications. The role also involves filing paperwork, maintaining electronic and paper files, verifying income, performing credit checks, and maintaining office supplies. Adherence to all work policies and safety practices, and attendance at required training are also essential. Performs other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two years experience involving administrative clerical work.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of university, community college, business, vocational schooling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares reports, correspondence, memorandum, schedules, minutes, requisitions, public hearing notices, statistical data, technical narratives, charts, and tables.

  • Performs other related functions as assigned.
