This Administrative Assistant 4 position within the Processing Section of the Department of Taxation is responsible for supervising various duties and processes necessary to meet the monthly and quarterly deadlines for collecting and distributing state revenue. The major purpose of this position is to supervise the Demographic team and ensure timely, accurate, posting of all Modified Business Tax information via the Employment Security Division feed to the Carson City office in accordance with Title 32 of the Nevada Revised Statute, the Nevada Administrative Code and Department Policy and Procedures. The Demographic Team is used to establish new accounts including maintaining address changes and name changes in the Tax Administrative System (TAS). Updates to this information directly impact return filing, revenue distribution and collections. The position is responsible for account research, adjustments, and other correction to taxpayer accounts. This position also is responsible to supervise the Surety Bond team. The Surety Bond team posts surety bonds, transfer of surety bonds, cancellations of surety bonds and process any updates to the existing surety bonds posted to taxpayer accounts to ensure permits are issued. Additionally, this team is responsible for updating mailing address on accounts due to post office return mail. Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). Typical duties include maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; budget monitoring and accounts maintenance; typing and word processing; answering telephones and relaying information; reception; duplicating and distributing materials; preparing for meetings and taking minutes; ordering and stocking supplies and equipment; receiving, sorting and delivering mail; reviewing and processing applications, forms and other documents; operating office equipment such as copiers, personal computers, computer terminals, calculators, facsimile machines, printers, and other equipment; and performing related duties as assigned.
