About The Position

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties within the headquarters unit in Juneau, supporting staff in Juneau and Anchorage. It provides administrative support in personnel, payroll, recruitment, procurement, and adapting internal processes to meet the division's needs. The role requires the ability to adapt to shifting priorities quickly, manage constant interruptions, adapt to frequent change in policy and procedures, and collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure necessary tasks are completed.

Requirements

  • Skill in using computer software programs to process accounting documentation, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, and tracking of budgetary and financial information.
  • Ability to learn state and department proprietary computer systems.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, apply, and explain policies and procedures, administrative and accounting requirements, rules, and instructions.
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain organized with projects, email management, and trackers.
  • Thoroughness when performing work.
  • Display of a high level of effort and commitment towards performing work.
  • Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement (e.g., Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, or similar).
  • One year of advanced-level clerical experience (e.g., Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, or similar).
  • One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours).
  • One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience).
