About The Position

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties within the Southeast Region in Douglas, supporting throughout Southeast Alaska. It provides administrative support in personnel, payroll, recruitment, procurement, and adapting internal processes to meet the division's needs. The role requires the ability to adapt to shifting priorities quickly, manage constant interruptions, adapt to frequent change in policy and procedures, and collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure necessary tasks are completed.

Requirements

  • Skill in using computer software programs to maintain staff information such as word processing, spreadsheet creation and maintenance.
  • Ability to learn state and department proprietary computer systems.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, apply, and explain policies and procedures, bargaining contracts, rules, and instructions.
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain organized with projects, email management, and trackers.
  • Thorough when performing work and display high level of effort and commitment towards performing work.
  • Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement.
  • One year of advanced-level clerical experience.
  • One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year).
  • One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience.
