About The Position

The School of Family Life is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach SFL 101: Intro to SFL for the Evening School program. This is a 1-credit, semester-long class that serves as an introduction to the School of Family Life and is a required course for all students entering the major. The instructor will be responsible for guiding students in creating realistic major or minor plans, identifying post-graduation pathways, participating in and developing a sense of community, and utilizing resources for effective learning.

Requirements

  • A Master's or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field completed by the start date.
  • Ability to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • Must be able to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.
  • If a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.

  • Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 1-credit, semester class (SFL 101: Intro to SFL).
  • Guide students in creating a realistic major or minor plan in the School of Family Life.
  • Help students identify possible post-graduation pathways with a major in the School of Family Life.
  • Facilitate participation in and development of a sense of community among faculty and students.
  • Instruct students on how to utilize important resources to become effective learners during college and after.
