About The Position

This position involves teaching a 1-credit, semester-long introductory class (SFL 101: Intro to SFL) within the School of Family Life, which is a required course for all students entering the major. The class is part of the Evening School program. The goal is for students to create realistic major/minor plans, identify post-graduation pathways, develop a sense of community, and learn to utilize resources effectively.

Requirements

  • A Master's or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field is required.
  • The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Successful candidate must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.
  • Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 1-credit, semester class (SFL 101: Intro to SFL).
  • Ensure students can create a realistic major or minor plan in the School of Family Life by the end of the semester.
  • Enable students to identify possible post-graduation pathways with a major in the School of Family Life.
  • Facilitate participation in and development of a sense of community among faculty and students.
  • Guide students to utilize important resources for effective learning during college and beyond.
