About The Position

This position involves teaching a 3-credit, semester online class to undergraduate students in the School of Family Life. The class is scheduled as an on-demand remote online class for the Fall 2026 semester. Although the position is taught online, the successful candidate is required to relocate to and reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. The curriculum aims to increase students' understanding of divine plans for personal development and marriage, enhance relationship skills, address modern threats to dating and marriage, deepen understanding of gospel doctrines on marriage, and raise awareness of factors contributing to healthy marriages. It also focuses on enhancing spiritual awareness and academic skills to evaluate ideas about marriage using faith and scholarship.

Requirements

• A Master's or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field is required.
• The required degree must be completed by the start date.
• Must relocate to and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
• All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
• All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
• Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.
• Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 3-credit, semester class to undergraduate students in the School of Family Life.
• Increase understanding of the Lord's divine plan for personal development and marriage.
• Increase capacity and skills in problem solving and communication in relationships.
• Be sensitive to modern threats to dating and marriage in contemporary culture using social science research and gospel principles.
• Increase understanding of the Savior's doctrines of marriage.
• Increase awareness of the factors that social science research has shown to contribute to the formation and maintenance of healthy and stable marriages.
• Enhance own spiritual awareness and academic skills to help weigh scholarly and contemporary ideas about marriage relationships and use both faith and scholarship to evaluate issues surrounding marriage and defend the institution of marriage throughout life.
