About The Position

This position involves teaching PSYCH 320: Developmental Psych: Childhood, an in-person class scheduled for MWF from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM during the Winter Semester of 2027. The instructor will be responsible for covering the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children from the prenatal period through late childhood. This includes major theories, research methods, and developmental processes across biological, cognitive, and social domains. The role requires supporting students in applying developmental concepts through active learning, research-based assignments, and applied experiences. Candidates should prepare students to critically evaluate and integrate research in developmental psychology and to think critically about factors influencing normative development and risk for psychopathology. Instruction should emphasize critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and real-world application. Requirements

  • MS or PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field (degree must be completed by the start date).
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to teach the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children from the prenatal period through late childhood, including major theories, research methods, and developmental processes across biological, cognitive, and social domains.
  • Ability to support students in applying developmental concepts through active learning, research-based assignments, and applied experiences.
  • Ability to prepare students to critically evaluate and integrate research in developmental psychology and to think critically about factors influencing normative development and risk for psychopathology.
  • Ability to emphasize critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and real-world application in instruction.
  • Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.

  • Prior experience teaching psychology—particularly a research and analysis course—is preferred.
