About The Position

This position involves teaching Psych 111: Psychological Science, an in-person class scheduled for MWF 12:00-12:50 PM during the Winter Semester of 2027. The instruction should emphasize critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and real-world application. The role also includes helping students explore how faith and reason can work together in understanding human thoughts, feelings, virtues, and behaviors.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field (degree must be completed by the start date).
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
  • Knowledge and ability to teach about the foundational principles of psychological science, including the history of psychology as a science, basic research methods and designs, general brain anatomy and functioning, biological bases of behavior, cognition, perception and attention, human development, emotion, personality, psychological disorders, general principles of health psychology and positive psychology, social relationships, and social behavior.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • If a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Must support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching psychology, particularly an introductory course.
