About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct Teaching role in Political Science, specifically for POLI 170 (Independent Study - University). Although it is an 'Independent Study' position, the successful candidate is required to relocate to and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. The role involves traditional teaching and grading, and/or curriculum development for the POLI 170 course. The instructor will work closely with administrators and students to ensure a positive and academically engaging independent study experience in an online environment. Responsibilities include grading student work, providing feedback, interacting with students via email, and holding virtual office hours. The position also involves developing, reviewing, or updating curriculum and learning experiences for domestic and international university students, which may include syllabi, course materials, and assessments.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in the subject area or a closely related field
  • Degree from an accredited institution must be completed by the start date
  • Highly knowledgeable in the subject area
  • Undergraduate teaching experience
  • Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment

Responsibilities

  • Grading and posting student work
  • Providing constructive and detailed feedback to students
  • Responding and interacting with students via email
  • Holding virtual office hours as needed
  • Developing, reviewing, or updating original, innovative, and relevant curriculum and learning experiences
  • Creating syllabi (course description, course objectives/outcomes, course methodology, grading criteria, grade computation, course policies)
  • Developing course materials
  • Creating test questions and answers
