About The Position

Texas A&M University–Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory and Ear Training. This position involves teaching undergraduate lower-level music theory/ear-training courses as needed by the School of Music, with a teaching load of up to 15 credit hours.

Requirements

Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of music from a regionally accredited institution or university required.
Strong teaching ability in Ear-training and Music Theory.

Nice To Haves

Doctorate Degree in Music
Prior experience teaching music theory/ear-training classes at the collegiate level.
Master’s degree in music theory, or a related field (ABD or PhD preferred)

Responsibilities

Teach classes according to assigned proficiency levels.
Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, performance development, and professional goals.
Collaborate closely with other music theory/ear-training professors, particularly in syllabus alignment and exam scheduling across multiple sections.
Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies (as assigned).
Perform additional instructional duties as assigned.
Collaborate with faculty on departmental coordination (e.g., aligned syllabi and shared exam schedules).
Maintain Student Success hours in support of student retention and academic success.
Perform additional service duties as assigned, depending on departmental needs and availability.
