About The Position

Concordia University Texas is currently searching for an Adjunct (part-time) Professor to teach “Upper Strings” lessons and Strings Methods courses (when needed) at our main Austin location during the Fall, 2026 semester. The Department of Music seeks a dynamic and versatile educator specializing in the upper string family (violin and viola) to lead lessons during the Fall, 2026 semester. The successful candidate will provide high-quality applied instruction in violin and viola, contribute to the development of string students, and teach string methods as needed.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Music (or ABD) preferred; Master’s degree with significant professional experience considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching violin and viola at the collegiate or pre-college level.
  • Experience teaching string methods or pedagogy courses is highly desirable.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional activity as a performer and/or educator.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to articulate and model the Concordia University Texas’ mission, vision, and values

Responsibilities

  • Teach applied music lessons in violin and viola to undergraduate students.
  • Mentor and advise string students in their academic and professional development.
  • Teach string methods courses as assigned, preparing future music educators in string pedagogy.
  • Participate in departmental activities, including juries, auditions, and recruitment events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in chamber music coaching, ensemble direction, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain an active profile as a performer and/or scholar.
  • Other duties and functions as needed
