Adjunct, Process Technology
About The Position
This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The Adjunct, Process Technology Instructor will primarily provide classroom and hands-on instruction in all areas of Process Technology, including process operations, industrial equipment, instrumentation, safety practices, troubleshooting, and industry-standard procedures. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the petrochemical, refining, chemical, and related process industries by connecting technical concepts with practical, real-world applications and current industry practices. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering or Associate’s degree in Process Technology or Equivalent degree
- Five (5) years of non-teaching chemical plant work experience.
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience at the college or industry level
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills.
- Familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
- Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.
- Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in Process Technology using current industry practices and equipment.
- Develop and deliver course content in accordance with approved curriculum, course outcomes, and departmental standards.
- Demonstrate proper operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance concepts related to process equipment and systems.
- Emphasize workplace safety, environmental awareness, regulatory compliance, and safe operating procedures throughout instruction.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, laboratory activities, demonstrations, and other appropriate assessment methods.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required course documentation and submit records according to college deadlines and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of process industry practices and technologies while promoting professionalism, teamwork, communication, and workforce readiness among students.
- Provide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operations
- Adhere to Alvin College’s policies and procedures.
- Attend institutional meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned
