About The Position

The Department of Nursing at North Central College invites applicants for adjunct instructors to teach one or two graduate nursing courses per semester. Adjunct instructors are required to deliver course content consistent with learning outcomes, evaluate and grade student work, and be available for office hours to support student success. These appointments are on a course-by-course basis. This posting is continuous to develop a qualified pool of interested candidates. If your academic area of interest/expertise meets our programmatic needs at any time, you may be contacted to discuss teaching opportunities. These needs change from semester to semester.

Requirements

• Competency in the depth and breadth of their medical/nursing knowledge, clinical reasoning, technical skills, problem solving, professionalism and communication skills to provide high-quality clinical and educational service to both internal and external constituents of the graduate nursing program.
• Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College.
• Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to perform educational functions with a high degree of ethics, integrity and professionalism and adhering to FERPA laws.
• Articulate an understanding of the societal trust placed in the nursing profession and the student relationship-based vision of the program.
• Ability to communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.
• MSN or MS in Nursing degree from an accredited institution is required.
• Active Illinois RN license.
• Certified FNP or PMHNP for is required for Nurse Practitioner specific courses.
• Prior teaching experience in graduate nursing education
• Experience with technology/course management systems (e.g. CANVAS )
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)

Nice To Haves

• A terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DNP ) is preferred.
• Certified Nurse Educator preferred.

• Use current research findings and scholarly works in nursing to improve nursing education and practice.
• Maintain clinical certification, licensure.
