About The Position

This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The Employer and the Faculty Member are subject to all the provisions of the Interlocal Agreement between the Employer and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). The Faculty Member agrees to comply with all policies, procedures, and security regulations of the TDCJ while performing instructional duties within TDCJ facilities. If officials of the TDCJ exercise their contractual right to deny the Faculty Member access to the assigned unit, the Employer may terminate the Faculty Member’s employment and cease salary payments effective immediately. Requirements

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist with experience in subject matter being taught
  • Must have a minimum of three years of experience in the practice setting or area of expertise in which they are teaching
  • Must have demonstrated expertise in the areas in which they are instructing and adhere to state regulations for licensure or registration to practice as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills.
  • Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards.
  • Utilize effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate instructional records.
  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, engagement, and overall success.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and the community.
  • Complete required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices.
  • Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
