About The Position

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) is seeking an Adjunct (per course) Instructor for Computer Science. UIS is one of three members of the University of Illinois system, located in the state capital. The university serves approximately 4,000 students with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, emphasizing a strong liberal arts core, professional programs, and close faculty interaction. UIS is engaged in public policy and service, with a diverse student body including traditional, non-traditional, and international students. A significant portion of majors are in online degree programs, and the campus has received national awards for its online learning implementation. Requirements

For undergraduate programs: Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a subfield. If the degree is in a different discipline, a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science or a subfield is required.
For graduate programs: Terminal degree determined by the discipline, with a record of research, scholarship or achievement appropriate for the graduate program.
Complete mandatory annual employee training.
Successfully complete the Building Digital Community (BDC) self-paced course during their first semester teaching online (if teaching online courses).

Minimum pay is based on number of courses previously taught at UIS, and whether the instructor has earned a terminal degree.

Responsibilities

Teach Computer Science courses on a per-course basis.
Complete mandatory annual employee training, including Ethics, and Preventing Harassment & Discrimination.
For online courses, successfully complete the Building Digital Community (BDC) self-paced course during the first semester teaching online to be eligible for future online courses.
