Wheeling University is seeking an Adjunct Professor for their Nursing Program to start in the Spring of 2027! The ideal candidate would be able to teach courses at the Master’s of Nursing level and the Bachelors of Nursing level.

Requirements

• Qualifications are congruent with the qualifications of nursing faculty as required by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• Have a graduate degree with a major in nursing
• Holds a current, active RN license or privilege to practice that is not encumbered and meets the requirements of the Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Each assigned undergraduate and/or graduate nursing didactic courses in an online learning environment.
• Prepare for and facilitate assigned courses in accordance with approved course syllabi, curriculum requirements, course learning outcomes, and program outcomes.
• Maintain an active and consistent faculty presence within the online learning environment.
• Communicate course expectations, assignments, grading criteria, and academic requirements clearly to students.
• Provide timely, substantive, and constructive feedback on student assignments, examinations, discussions, and other learning activities.
• Grade student work consistently and in accordance with established grading rubrics, course policies, and Nursing Program policies.
• Monitor student academic progress and communicate concerns regarding student performance in a timely manner.
• Provide appropriate academic support and guidance to students and refer students to University resources when additional assistance is needed.
• Facilitate online discussions and learning activities that promote critical thinking, clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, professional communication, and application of nursing knowledge.
• Utilize current evidence, professional nursing standards, and best practices in nursing education when facilitating course content.
• Maintain current knowledge within the instructor's assigned area of nursing practice and education.
• Utilize the University's learning management system and other approved instructional technologies effectively.
• Maintain accurate and timely course records, including grades, attendance or participation documentation when applicable, and student communications.
• Respond to student communications within established Nursing Program and University expectations.
• Participate in course and program assessment activities, including evaluation of student learning outcomes and collection of assessment data as requested.
• Identify opportunities for course improvement and communicate recommendations to nursing program leadership.
• Participate in orientation, faculty development, and training related to online instruction, instructional technology, assessment, academic integrity, and University policies.
• Follow University and Nursing Program policies regarding academic integrity, student confidentiality, accessibility, grading, and professional conduct.
• Maintain student educational records in accordance with FERPA and applicable University policies.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committee activities, program evaluation, accreditation activities, and other Nursing Program responsibilities as assigned.
• Collaborate professionally with nursing faculty, program leadership, academic support personnel, and other University departments.
• Complete required University and Nursing Program documentation by established deadlines.
• Perform other duties consistent with the faculty role as assigned by the Chair of Nursing or appropriate academic administrator.
