About The Position

The School of Education and Counseling within the College of Applied Human Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking applications for Part-Time Adjunct Faculty positions for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters. These positions may involve teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in various areas including elementary and secondary teacher education, literacy education, special education, education leadership, early childhood education, child development, family sciences, counseling, human services, and addiction studies. Courses can be delivered in-person or online. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed as openings become available. Salary is determined per course. While these positions are generally not benefits-eligible, this may change based on course load and departmental needs.

Requirements

Master’s or doctoral degree in a field related to the course(s) being taught (e.g., Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Education Leadership, Literacy Education, Child Development, Psychology, Counseling, or a related discipline).
Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
For counseling area positions: may require counseling experience and/or holding appropriate licenses in the field.
Individuals with a doctoral degree are eligible to teach graduate or undergraduate courses.
Individuals with only a master’s degree are eligible to teach undergraduate courses.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as elementary and secondary teacher education, literacy education, special education, education leadership, early childhood education, child development, family sciences, counseling, human services, and addiction studies.
Deliver courses in-person or online, depending on program needs.
