About The Position

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues. We seek candidates with: (1) an understanding of the college mission and teaching experience in a comprehensive community college; (2) a focus on student success in a learner-centered environment; and (3) a willingness to use technology to support learning in the academic setting, including on-line instruction and assessment of student learning outcomes. MVCC's School of Business and Hospitality invites applications for part-time Adjunct Instructors. We are seeking Instructors to teach courses in the following disciplines: Business Administration, Accounting, Analytics, Economics, Marketing, Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry, and Food Service Management. Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Courses may be taught in traditional classroom settings, virtually, or a combination. This position may include both daytime and evening class assignments. Specific assignments will be made according to the academic qualifications and availability of the individual and the School needs.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must reside in New York State and have the ability to work on campus as required.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. If you currently need sponsorship or will need it in the future to maintain employment authorization, you do not meet eligibility requirements.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classroom instruction
  • Teach assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives
  • Develop and maintain syllabus materials
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Maintain grades, enter midterm and final grades
  • Respond promptly to student inquiries
  • Maintain attendance records according to MVCC standards
  • Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process
  • Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using discretion, patience, and courtesy
