About The Position

East Texas Baptist University seeks a qualified individual to provide instruction in theatre in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts. The position begins in August 2026 and will include teaching courses in technical theatre and design and rotating courses such as stage management, theatre history, theatre education, and performance classes if the faculty member has the necessary credentials and experience. The faculty member will also be assigned scenic, lighting, and/or sound design and production responsibilities in the theatre program.

Requirements

Master’s degree in theatre arts.
Teaching experience.
Record of professional involvement.
Ability to communicate well with students and colleagues.
Appreciation and commitment to serve in Christian higher education.
Demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Live lifestyles consistent with the University’s biblical standards of morality, temperance, stewardship.
Membership and active participation in the faculty member’s local Christian church.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in theatre in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts.
Teach courses in technical theatre and design.
Teach rotating courses such as stage management, theatre history, theatre education, and performance classes (if qualified).
Be assigned scenic, lighting, and/or sound design and production responsibilities in the theatre program.
Participate in the life of the University via faculty/department/school meetings, University Chapel services, prayer emphases, discipleship group studies, committee participation, local community ministry involvement, and attendance at campus activities and events.
Support ETBU's distinct Christ-centered educational mission and share the institutional commitment to the integration of biblical faith and academic learning.
Provide Christ-centered, faith-integrated service and devotion to students’ intellectual enlightenment, spiritual formation, servant leadership development, and career preparation.
Be an active member of a local Baptist church or Christian denominational church, and regularly attend church.
Participate in institutional meetings, Chapel services, prayer emphases, discipleship programming, committee participation, local community ministry/service, and campus activities and events.
Provide active support of the spiritual, intellectual, and educational ideals, values, activities, and objectives of East Texas Baptist University.
Conform to Christian standards of faith and service.
