About The Position

Provides hands-on instruction for an intensive Industrial Sewing Bootcamp designed to prepare participants for entry-level employment in industrial sewing and manufacturing environments. Delivers daily, instructor-led training in classroom, laboratory, and off-site settings, demonstrating industrial sewing techniques, machine operation, production methods, quality standards, and workplace safety. Provides individualized coaching and feedback while working effectively with a diverse student population. Maintains accurate student records, attendance, grades, skills assessments, and required training documentation in accordance with North Carolina Community College System and college guidelines. Maintains an organized training environment and assists with inventory and accountability of sewing equipment, tools, materials, and supplies. Supports program audits and reporting requirements and works closely with program staff and industry/community partners to ensure training meets workforce needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Three – five years of hands-on industrial sewing or production sewing experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, textile, apparel, upholstery, or similar production environment.

  • Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or workforce-development experience.
  • Experience working with community-based training programs or nontraditional student populations.
  • Experience with student recordkeeping, reporting, inventory management, or program audits.
  • Experience developing or delivering skills-based workforce training.
  • Experience in industrial sewing production, quality assurance, or manufacturing supervision.
  • Industry-recognized sewing or manufacturing credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily, hands-on industrial sewing instruction in classroom, laboratory, and off-site training locations as assigned.
  • Demonstrate operation, setup, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting of industrial sewing machines and related equipment.
  • Teach industrial sewing techniques, production processes, quality control, and workplace safety.
  • Provide demonstrations, supervised practice, and individualized coaching to support student skill development.
  • Work effectively with learners from diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and educational experiences.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, student progress, grades, skills assessments, and other required records in accordance with North Carolina Community College System and college recordkeeping and reporting guidelines.
  • Complete required documentation and reports accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of sewing machines, equipment, tools, materials, and classroom supplies.
  • Monitor the condition and use of equipment and supplies and report repair, replacement, or purchasing needs.
  • Prepare and maintain the classroom, laboratory, and off-site training areas to support safe and effective instruction.
  • Follow college policies, safety requirements, purchasing procedures, and inventory-control practices.
  • Participate in program reviews, audits, and compliance activities and provide requested documentation.
  • Collaborate with program staff, industry partners, and community organizations to support successful training delivery.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Support students in developing the technical, employability, and workplace skills needed for manufacturing employment.
  • Contribute to curriculum updates and continuous improvement based on industry and employer needs.
  • Travel to off-site training locations as required.
