Adjunct Instructor - Barber (Part- Time)
About The Position
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor – Barber (Part- Time) position in the Business and Public Service Technologies (BPST) Division. This position is part-time and located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. Under general supervision of the Dean of Business & Public Service technologies and the Cosmetology Department Chair, the Adjunct Instructor – Barber (Part- Time) will demonstrate a passion for teaching and commitment to helping students develop essential barbering skills. This is a part-time position, working up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid Georgia Cosmetology Instructor License
- Minimum of three (3) - five (5) years of professional barbering experience
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning
- Previous experience as a barbering instructor or in a similar teaching role
- Experience with digital learning tools and online education platforms
- Advanced knowledge of current barbering techniques and trends
Nice To Haves
- Barber Instructor License with experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement detailed lesson plans and curricula for barbering courses
- Instruct students on various barbering techniques, including haircutting, styling, and shaving
- Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of barbering tools and equipment
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Prepare students for state licensure exams and ensure compliance with state requirements
- Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment
- Coordinate and supervise hands-on training sessions and practical exams
- Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in the barbering industry
- Evaluate and grade students' performance and practical skills
- Assist in the development and revision of training materials
- Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere
- Provide mentorship and career guidance to students
- Perform other duties as assigned
