The University of Maryland Global Campus is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach Cybersecurity for Leaders and Managers (CSIA 300) remotely to stateside students. The course surveys cybersecurity principles, practices, and strategies that help leaders and managers become strategic partners in establishing, managing, and governing an enterprise cybersecurity program. Topics include cybersecurity fundamentals, enterprise IT governance and security controls, data security, information life cycles, intellectual property protections, privacy laws and regulations, security education and awareness, and collaboration between business units and cybersecurity programs. Courses use a standardized, pre-designed model with rubrics, open educational resources, library resources, and digital textbooks provided. Faculty focus on mentoring students, facilitating learning, and providing feedback rather than designing courses. Teaching is asynchronous, with flexibility in daily scheduling provided weekly grading, responsiveness, and engagement milestones are met. Newly hired faculty receive online orientation and ongoing professional development. The position involves teaching eight-week, three-credit sessions, typically with 25–35 students. It requires a substantial commitment to students’ academic, social, personal, and professional growth throughout each term. Applicants must be local to the stateside teaching opportunity; UMGC does not provide logistical support. Applicants must maintain their own legal status in the country where they apply to teach.
