The University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in its Department of Cybersecurity to teach cybersecurity courses remotely to stateside applicants. Applicants must be local; UMGC does not provide logistical support for this role. Courses are 100% online and asynchronous, run in eight-week sessions, and typically enroll 25–35 students, with smaller sections for select courses. The role requires a substantial commitment throughout each term to support students’ academic, social, personal, and professional growth. Courses in the subject area include Introduction to Cybersecurity (CTCH 605), Cybersecurity Threats and Analysis (CTCH 615), Cybersecurity for Systems and Networks (CTCH 625), Cybersecurity Attack Prevention Strategies (CTCH 635), and Cybersecurity Exploitation Methodologies (CTCH 645). Topics include cybersecurity architectures and operations, threat analysis and intelligence, systems and network security, targeted attacks and response, and exploitation methodologies and ethical hacking. Courses use a standardized, pre-designed curriculum with rubrics, open educational resources, library resources, and digital textbooks provided. Adjunct faculty mentor students, facilitate course learning, provide feedback, and contribute professional expertise and real-world examples. Faculty receive online orientation and ongoing cost-free professional development. Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country where they apply to teach. Required application materials include a resume or curriculum vitae and unofficial transcripts; a cover letter is highly preferred and the posting also says submissions should include one. Candidates with international degrees may be asked to provide a translation or degree evaluation from a NACES-approved vendor.
