Economics, Kadena Air Base, The Undergraduate School - Adjunct Faculty

University of Maryland Global Campus
•Onsite

About The Position

UMGC is hiring an Economics Adjunct Faculty member to teach on-site at Kadena Air Base and Camp Foster in Okinawa. This role is for local applicants; UMGC does not provide logistical support, and applicants must have and maintain their own legal status in the country where they teach. Candidates must be able to reliably travel to assigned locations, which may not be accessible by public transportation. Adjunct faculty teach using UMGC’s standardized, pre-designed curriculum and provided rubrics, OER materials, library resources, and digital textbooks. The role focuses on facilitating learning, mentoring students, providing feedback, and connecting course concepts to professional experience. UMGC provides new faculty with online orientation and ongoing professional development. Courses may be delivered face-to-face, online (asynchronous and/or synchronous), hybrid, or by live-streaming, depending on location and program. Most courses use accelerated eight-week sessions, and enrollment varies. The role requires substantial engagement throughout the term to support students’ academic, social, personal, and professional growth.
