The Department of Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions to teach Psychology courses through the University’s Dual Enrollment Program. Courses are delivered in person at partnering high schools and provide eligible high school students with the opportunity to earn college credit from UMES. The Department seeks qualified instructors who can provide academically rigorous, college-level Psychology instruction while effectively supporting high school students enrolled in their first college courses. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain the academic standards, student learning outcomes, course content, assessment practices, and instructional expectations established by the Department of Education and the University. Adjunct faculty members may be assigned to teach General Psychology or other approved undergraduate Psychology courses offered through UMES dual enrollment partnerships. Courses must be taught in accordance with the approved UMES course syllabus, catalog description, learning outcomes, and departmental expectations regardless of the high school location at which instruction occurs. Dual Enrollment Adjunct Faculty members serve as UMES instructors and are accountable to the University for the academic integrity, quality, and administration of assigned courses. Faculty members must also work collaboratively and professionally with designated high school administrators, counselors, teachers, and UMES representatives to support student participation and successful course completion. Adjunct faculty appointments are made based on dual enrollment partnerships, course availability, student enrollment, available funding, instructional site needs, and the qualifications of the applicant.
