About The Position

This is an open and continuous posting for potential adjunct positions within the Department of Languages. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory, intermediate, or advanced German-language classes. Instruction will be in-person on the UD Main Campus in Newark, DE. Days and times will vary according to the needs of the department each semester. Adjunct instructors are also expected to hold one hour of student office hours per course per week.

Requirements

  • MA in German Language, Literature, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, or Second Language Acquisition & Teaching.
  • Native or near-native fluency in German and English (ACTFL Superior or CEFR C1).
  • Experience teaching college-level German in the US.
  • Familiarity with current best practices in second language acquisition & pedagogical methods, national and state standards, and intercultural competence.
  • Experience with using technology to foster student learning.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning styles.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. preferred.
