About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Dutchess Community College (DCC) invites applications for part-time faculty in Mathematics. The department is searching for instructors to teach one or more of the following courses: MAT 099 - Intermediate Algebra, MAT 109 - Survey of Mathematics, MAT 118 - Elementary Statistics, MAT 131 - Technical Mathematics I, MAT 132 - Technical Mathematics II, MAT 184 - College Algebra and Trigonometry, MAT 185 - Precalculus, MAT 221/MAT222/MAT223 - Calculus I, II, and III, MAT 224 - Differential Equations, MAT 215 - Liner Algebra, MAT 214 - Discrete Mathematics with Proofs. Courses are taught in Traditional/In-Person, Hybrid, and Asynchronous online instructional modes. In-person classes take place at our main campus in Poughkeepsie and our DCC@Fishkill location, the Center of Excellence for Business, Industry, and Innovation (COEBII). Courses are held in the daytime and the evenings. Part-time faculty teach assigned class material in accordance with learning objectives developed by the department.

Requirements

Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
Official transcripts required upon hire.
Experience teaching at the college level.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching at a community college.
Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.
A commitment to diversity and an understanding of how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
