About The Position

Theoria Technical College is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in their fully online Early Childhood Education Associate of Science (EEAS) degree program and ECE/CDA Certificate program. Each course is a 3-unit, 5-week asynchronous offering delivered through Orbund LMS. Faculty will be assigned courses based on discipline match, credentials, experience, and availability. The college is California-approved (BPPE), ACCJC-Candidate, and ACCET-accredited, preparing students for credentialing and employment in early childhood and child-development settings aligned with NAEYC and California Department of Education ECE workforce standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited U.S. institution; OR Master's degree in Education, Human Development, Psychology, or related field with at least 18 graduate semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework (for Associate-of-Science-level EEAS coursework).
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field, AND Active CDA Credential, California Child Development Permit, or equivalent state credential, AND Minimum five years of direct early childhood practice or teacher-of-teachers experience (for ECE/CDA Certificate-level coursework).
  • Demonstrated postsecondary teaching experience, preferably in an online or hybrid environment.
  • Working knowledge of NAEYC standards, the California ECE Foundations, or comparable national/state frameworks.
  • Reliable computer, internet, and home-office setup compatible with Orbund.
  • U.S. work authorization (employment eligibility documentation required at offer).
  • Mandated reporter training current within the past 24 months (or willingness to complete prior to first day of instruction).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related discipline.
  • Three or more years of online undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Direct practice experience in early childhood classrooms, family child care, or early intervention settings.
  • Active California Child Development Permit (Director or Site Supervisor level) or comparable credential.
  • Experience teaching trauma-informed, inclusive, or special-needs ECE content.
  • Bilingual capability (Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or other languages serving California ECE communities).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned asynchronous, instructor-facilitated EEAS or ECE/CDA courses in Orbund consistent with the institutional syllabus and course shell.
  • Maintain Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) per 34 CFR §600.2: weekly announcements, instructor-led discussion facilitation, individualized graded feedback, and timely response to student inquiries.
  • Grade student work and submit final grades within institutional timelines (10 business days for assignments; 7 days after term close for final grades).
  • Respond to student communications within 48 business hours, excluding weekends.
  • Complete required institutional training (Accreditation Responsibilities, FERPA, and others) within 30 days of engagement.
  • Participate in 90-day probationary review and annual evaluation under AOP 7.1.x.
  • Adhere to NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and maintain confidentiality of all child, family, and student information.
