About The Position

This is a part-time, adjunct position with the possibility of renewal on a term-by-term basis. The Department of Critical Literacies, Technology, and Multilingual Education (CLTM) in the College of Education is particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in our reading/literacy programs. The department offers two developmental reading courses for Rowan students based on their Accuplacer score: Improving Personal Reading Skills and Critical Thinking and Reading of Academic Texts. Both courses emphasize comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, study skills, and decision-making applicable across a wide range of academic majors.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in literacy or reading.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings or working with adult literacy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people.
  • A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Experience with supervising/mentoring other teachers.

Benefits

  • Minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught.
  • Maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year.
