About The Position

Online Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating an online learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of the provided single version primary course. Courses are taught completely online in primarily 8-week (rarely 16-week) format. Only candidates who will reside and work from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio will be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Unofficial transcripts required as part of the application process. Official transcripts required upon hiring.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1.
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, or human services, behavioral sciences, or other related fields (e.g. earned Juris Doctor degree).
  • Possesses one of the following: Professional certification in the field, or Two years of directly related work experience, or Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program.
  • Conducts all activities with an appreciation and respect for people, styles, and views.
  • Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging online students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.
  • Must be committed to an environment where team members feel valued, respected and supported.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to a workplace culture that recognizes and appreciates varied perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Must be passionate about creating and maintaining a team dynamic that encourages open communication and mutual respect.
  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
