About The Position

Flathead Valley Community College is an outstanding public community college located on a beautiful campus in Kalispell, Montana, with panoramic views of the northern Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park. The faculty member will teach Criminal Justice and related courses in transfer and Career and Technical programs. Anticipated start date of August 19, 2026. This is a tenure track position.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree earned in the teaching field, OR Master’s degree earned in a closely related academic discipline with at least nine (9) graduate-level semester credits in Criminal Justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Master or Ph.D. earned in Criminal Justice.
  • A minimum of 30 semester credits teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Experience teaching criminal justice, which may include courses in forensics, law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
  • Experience developing and facilitating labs.
  • Experience in differentiated instruction for diverse student populations.
  • Experience working with instructional technology and/or distance education courses.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Experience in using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and conveys knowledge of criminal justice and related courses at freshman and sophomore levels in an effective manner for successful student learning outcomes.
  • Teaches content material using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning.
  • Utilizes emerging technology in criminal justice.
  • Facilitates distance education courses such as online, and hybrid.
  • Serves as an ambassador for the College and fosters positive student and community relations.
  • Identifies the need for adjunct faculty and assists in the hiring of adjunct faculty.
  • Develops and revises curriculum in content area and integrates subject area with other related curricula
  • Fosters positive student and community relations
  • Advises students according to established guidelines
  • Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements and participates in assessment activities
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities
  • Works professionally with college faculty and staff to aid with the educational process and fulfills all academic responsibilities
  • Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed
  • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
