About The Position

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach a large, entry-level undergraduate course in Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field and provide high-quality, in-person instruction that fosters student learning and engagement.

This is a part-time faculty wage position for a short-term academic work assignment, expected to be conducted on campus. Wage Faculty (Adjunct) may only be paid via Period Activity Pay. Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in environmental engineering principles and practices.
• Strong communication and instructional skills.
• Ability to teach effectively in an in-person classroom environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous university-level teaching experience, particularly in environmental engineering and/or large-enrollment courses.
• Experience supervising teaching assistants and contributing to accreditation or assessment processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver in-person lectures and other instructional activities for a large undergraduate environmental engineering course.
• Develop and administer student assessments, including quizzes, examinations, assignments, and other evaluation methods.
• Maintain regular weekly office hours to support student learning and academic success.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants assigned to the course.
• Participate in departmental and accreditation-related assessment activities as requested, including collecting and reporting student learning outcomes.
• Maintain accurate course records and comply with university policies and procedures.
