About The Position

Ivy Tech Madison is seeking an adjunct faculty member for Chemistry. This is a temporary, part-time teaching position requiring face-to-face instruction on the Madison Ivy Tech campus. The role involves creating a supportive learning environment, providing effective instruction and assessment based on common syllabi, and maintaining student records.

Requirements

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Must meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction.
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in chemistry, OR
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in chemistry-related courses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follow syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In the event of an emergency absence, notify the program/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote the same as an integral part of one's work.
