About The Position

The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty - Center for STEM Education. Adjunct faculty members facilitate students’ achievement of course objectives and prepare college students to matriculate through the program.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in STEM Education or closely related field from an accredited university.
  • 18 hours of graduate level coursework in STEM Education.
  • Uphold the mission and values of USM, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Center for STEM Education.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with all groups of individuals in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team in diverse settings.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.
  • Experience setting clear performance expectations and provision of meaningful feedback.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching, mentoring and service experience at a university level.
  • Experience with Canvas technology.

Responsibilities

  • Face-to-face, interactive video, or online course delivery and instruction
  • Prepare and submit syllabi, grades and other required course documentation in a timely manner
  • Communicate course requirements and expectations to students
  • Coordinate course schedule with other faculty teaching the same course
  • Assist students with course material as necessary, potentially outside of class time
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
