About The Position

The College of Science and Humanities at Husson University invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty pool in Chemistry. This posting will remain open for up to one year to build a pool of qualified candidates who may be considered for future teaching opportunities as departmental needs arise. The Chemistry courses support students general education in the areas of lab science and upper-level courses for programs in healthcare professions, pre-medicine, biochemistry, and related fields. We seek educators who are committed to student-centered teaching and helping students develop scientific knowledge, laboratory skills, critical thinking abilities, and an appreciation for the role of chemistry in understanding the natural world. Assignments may include day or evening courses and are expected to be delivered on Husson University's Bangor campus.

Requirements

  • An earned Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to undergraduate students.
  • Commitment to providing engaging, inclusive, and student-centered instruction.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to support common course objectives, assessment practices, and student success initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD or other terminal degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Successful college-level teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching laboratory courses and supervising student laboratory work.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lecture and laboratory courses in General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Chemistry for Health Sciences.
  • Support students' general education in lab science.
  • Teach upper-level courses for programs in healthcare professions, pre-medicine, biochemistry, and related fields.
  • Help students develop scientific knowledge, laboratory skills, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Foster an appreciation for the role of chemistry in understanding the natural world.
  • Indicate areas of expertise, teaching interests, laboratory experience, and any specialized areas of chemistry.

Benefits

  • Compensation is based on academic credentials, course assignment and course enrollment.
  • Undergraduate Courses Master's Prepared: Up to $933.33 per credit hour
  • Undergraduate Courses Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared: Up to $1,016.67 per credit hour
  • Graduate Courses Master's Prepared: Up to $1,016.67 per credit hour
  • Graduate Courses Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared: Up to $1,100.00 per credit hour
  • Lab Sections (Undergraduate) Master's Prepared: $1,150.00 per credit hour
  • Lab Sections (Undergraduate) Doctoral or Equivalent Prepared: $1,250.00 per credit hour
  • Compensation is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the assigned course.
